Over 36 Thousand Visitors Gathered in FHI 2023 at JIEXPO

Jakarta, 9 August 2023 – Food & Hotel Indonesia (FHI) 2023 exhibition was successfully held from 25–28 July 2023, occupying all Jakarta International Expo (JIEXPO) halls and atracting over 36 thousand visitors. Moreover, the exhibition was graced by more than 750 companies, consisting of more than 450 local/national and more than 300 International companies from 31 countries/regions, all of which are engaged in the industries of hospitality and food & beverages (F&B).

This exhibition was officially opened by the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Dr. H. Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno, BBA., MBA. In his welcoming speech, Sandiaga mentioned that FHI 2023 was the biggest and the most anticipated hospitality and F&B trade exhibition in Southeast Asia.

“We appreciate the spirit of industry players who endeavor to turn the wheel of the economy, and through such event like FHI, to introduce Indonesia’s best products to other industry players and investors,” stated Sandiaga at FHI 2023 Opening Ceremony on Tuesday (25/07).

According to Sandiaga, FHI synergizes with the government and contributes to the hospitality and F&B industries while urging business players to keep innovating using Indonesia’s best materials.

On the same occasion, Director General for Agro Industry of the Ministry of Industry, Ir. Putu Juli Ardika, MA., also stated that the F&B industry was the main growth engine of Indonesia’s non-OG processing industry. In the first quarter of 2023, this industry grew by 5.35%, aligned with the national GDP of 5.03%.

He elaborated that the F&B industry brings a positive value to the trade balance, reaching USD 11.48 billion. The F&B industry is Indonesia’s third most lucrative investment, with an investment value of IDR 19.6 trillion and able to absorb 5.7 million workers.

“The F&B industry has multilayer effects, and in this regard, government policies have been made to increase competitiveness, expand market access, and mitigate any export challenge. The government’s support for International-scale events like FHI is to boost export from the demand side,” stated Putu.

Event Director of FHI 2023 Juanita Soerakoesoemah explained, that to support the growth of the F&B and hospitality industries in Indonesia, FHI promptly responded by presenting again the exhibition in 2023. “Start from this year, FHI is officially an annual event, which previously was held every two years (biennially). The presence of FHI every year will provide more access to expand businesses’ market and improve their competitiveness in the global market,” explained Juanita.

She further claimed that FHI’s success owed much to the business matches that sparked during the exhibition. In essence, this exhibition brought together the industry players and potential customers; thus, dialogues could take place and lead to business dealings facilitated by FHI’s Business Matching Programme, which is a platform where visitors and customers can have private business meetings with the exhibiting companies.“Throughout the exhibition, over 450 business matching have sparked from various aspects of the hospitality and F&B industries,” said Juanita.

Juanita added that to support business growth in these sectors, FHI 2023 presents various supporting events held together with association partners and industries’ professional communities. She explained that all visitors at FHI 2023 had the chance to learn directly from the experts and build connections with professionals.
